MSI Unveils Ultra-slim Wind U160MX Netbook - Wind U160MX in Taiwan

MSI has announced an ultra-slim netbook for the Wind U100 series family Wind U160MX in Taiwan. Housing a single core Intel Atom processor, the new Wind U160MX comes with less than an inch thin profile, and weighs only a kg including the battery. This ultrathin netbook promises a battery life of 8.5 hours and features MSI's new TDE overclocking technology. This 10.1-inch display bearing laptop comes with Easy Face, the face recognition software and S-Bar toolbar.




New MSI Wind U160MX netbook comes with 10.1-inch WSVGA display with LED backlight and has 8 millisecond response time. With less than an inch in thickness, this U160MX netbook has a cylindrical hinge that connects the screen to the keyboard. Under the chassis, Wind U160MX house 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 processor and packs up to 2GB DDR3 memory. MSI has used the new Turbo Drive Engine overclocking technology for boosting the netbook performance instantly. This feature lets you make the best of the CPU while using the image processing applications or the ones that require a bit of extra CPU muscle.




MSI has added the ECO energy-saving technology feature that will let you change the battery management settings with a simple tap of finger. On-board Intel GMA 3150 graphics power the multimedia playback. For security of the netbook, Wind U160MX uses the face recognition software Easy Face for security of the data on the netbook. The S-bar toolbar offers quick multimedia and system control options.

Running Windows 7 Starter Edition, U160MX can hold up to 320GB HDD. Other features include Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, 0.3 megapixel webcam, and 3-cell battery pack. MSI hasn't announced the pricing and availability plans of this netbook. Apparently the ultra-slim netbooks aren't dead just yet.
