Though they're at the bottom of the Pacific Division standings, the Anaheim Ducks and Phoenix Coyotes remain very much alive in the tightly contested Western Conference playoff race.
The Ducks look to pull even with the visiting Coyotes in the standings and win the season series in a pivotal matchup Sunday night. While Anaheim (37-26-5) is last in the Pacific, Phoenix (35-23-11) is tied for third with Los Angeles but the Kings have more wins.
These teams are among eight within six points of each other for the West's final five playoff spots. "We can't afford to miss points when everybody else is winning around us," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. "That's the situation we're in. We can't afford to give up points at this point of the season."
