Catherine Zeta-Jones Enters Facility for Bipolar Disorder Treatment

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

It's been a year of struggles for Catherine Zeta-Jones, whose husband Michael Douglas recently battled (and recovered from) throat cancer. On Wednesday, the actress's rep confirmed that she has checked into a mental health facility.

"After dealing with the stress of the past year, Catherine made the decision to check into a mental health facility for a brief stay," her rep said. "She's feeling great and looking forward to starting work this week on her two upcoming films."

The Oscar-winning actress is seeking treatment for Bipolar II disorder, which is characterized by mood swings ranging from hypomania (a period of elevated euphoria or irritability) to depression.

We hope this admirable actress finds the most happiness and health.
