G'Five to Introduce Android Smartphones to India, Brings Quad-SIM Mobile

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

Remember G’Five was rumoured of bringing an Android tablet to India? The Chinese company it seems will also bring a range of Android smartphones to the country. It shouldn’t be too surprising to know that the handsets will be running on Android 2.1 aka Éclair. Well, the tablet itself was said to be running on 2.1, so there’s no reason why this will run anything better.

In an interview with the Mobile Indian, Jaideep Chopra VP of G’Five confirmed that all handsets will be running Android 2.1. However, he also said that the company will bring a host of smartphones that will have different hardware options. So it’s quite obvious that we’ll be seeing a few handsets priced a tad higher. Even then, they still might not go over the mid-range category at all.

In some other news, we saw G’Five offering a four SIM (that is NOT a typo) mobile phone called the GF73. We saw the advertisement in yesterday’s Times of India and the phone is being offered via Naaptol. While the phone is priced at Rs. 8,500, it’s being offered for Rs. 2,499. The best part is not the price though. In case you felt juggling between two numbers was a task, guess it’ll take some immense talent to switch between four! Looks like the handset is meant for those leading more than a “double life”.
