'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' Makes $4.7 Million at Midnight Showings

The new Pirates opened at midnight with it already making $4.7 Million off of those showings alone.

The movie has already made around $44 million internationally, which is 10% better than Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End. The movie was shown at 2,210 theatres last night at US theatres. By contrast it has done better than other midnight screenings such as Thor ($3.3 million), Avatar ($3.5 million) or Tron: Legacy ($3.6 million).

Disney is hoping to have the latest Pirates film open to at least $100 million. As of now it is currently doing 10% better than the 3rd movie did when it opened internationally.
