While the Washington Capitals remain in contention for the top spot in the Eastern Conference, the Buffalo Sabres may need to keep winning just to make the playoffs.

Washington (45-22-11) defeated Columbus 4-3 in overtime Thursday night, continuing to put pressure on Philadelphia in the race for home-ice advantage throughout the East playoffs.
