Will Smith's Monster Trailer Towed Out of Soho

Friday, May 13, 2011

Will Smith has become the male diva over at his downtown New York movie set, and his new Manhanitte neighbors are not happy about it. For his filming of Men in Black III, he lugged in a 1,150 square foot traIler, nicknamed "The Heat," to the very narrow retail-store lined streets of Soho. The flustered residents made such an episode that the studio has finally towed it away.

The artsy high-brow elitists who live and work around Soho complained that the trailer blocked traffic, emitted fumes and stalled businesses. The gargantuous 53-foot long vehicle is equipped with marble floors, a 100-inch roll-down movie screen, a lounge and bar, numerous offices, and probably does belong in a real-sized, empty street that isn't already clustered with tourists and taxi cabs.

Some of the best complaints below, via New York Post:

"This thing is like a duplex. How would Will Smith feel if I parked that thing out in front of his house? People forget this is a residential neighborhood, not a film lot -- that thing is taking up half our gasoline reserve." – Myrna Reisman, a local resident.

"This is killing our business." – Anessa Rahman, owner of Greene Street Antiques

"The smell that comes along with it is disgusting. It's like living in a gas station. I really like Will Smith, but I would be embarrassed if that was my trailer. A little modesty goes a long way." – Brigette Moreno, nearby resident.

Oh and Smith is also renting a nearby five-bedroom apartment less than a mile away for $25,000. Why wouldn't he?
