Britney Spears may be well enough to headline a massive multi-city area tour, but she's not stable enough to take the stand in a defamation case brought by her ex-manager, Osama "Sam" Lutfi. At least that's the argument being made by Britney's father, Jamie Spears, and her family's lawyer, Andrew Wallet.
Lutfi is the man that Britney's mother Lynne believes drugged and manipulated the pop star over a period of several months in 2008, cutting the singer off from her family and mixing narcotics into her food. She wrote about the shady relationship between Britney in Sam in her memoir, Through the Storm, leading Lutfi to file a defamation lawsuit.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sam is pushing for Britney to give a deposition in the case. Britney's parents claim their daughter is "mentally incapable of testifying," despite the fact that she's been in her father's care for almost three years. Lutfi argues that the press interviews Britney has given to promote her new album Femme Fatale prove she has the presence of mind to make a statement.
